Legal Words for Interpreters - Criminal Law - DV and sexual offences (Session for women)
Are you an interpreter who works in the legal area, interpreting and translating in police interviews, conferences and court rooms particularly in domestic and family violence matters or sexual based offences?
In this half day free training, you will learn from our experienced criminal lawyers about legal terminology and the laws in these areas to help you work with our clients in conferences with lawyers, police interviews and in court.
Importantly, this training has been split into two sessions, one for men and one for women. We hope this enables a safe space for everyone to feel comfortable talking and asking questions about the laws around domestic violence and sexual offences.

Who is the workshop for?
The target audience is interpreters and bilingual support workers. This session is a woman-focused event that intends an inclusive definition of women. We are welcoming and respectful of women, including trans women and those who are nonbinary, gender non-conforming, and anyone who identifies as a woman in a way that is significant to them.
